FAQ

What is the High School Profile?

The high school profile is a document used by high schools to promote their community and to provide colleges and universities with detailed statistics and information pertaining to their graduating class.

Who uses a high school profile?

There are two distinct groups that use the high school profile. The first are college admissions representatives who use the profile to compare academic programs.  The second are real estate agents and members of the community.

How do I know this information was provided by the actual high school?

Highschoolprofile.com checks the identity of every high school and college admissions professional. Yes, we do it manually, with real people. While this slows down the initial registration process, it ensures that you are dealing with who you think you are dealing with.

Our high school is already registered on your site. We have just updated our High School Profile. How can I update the information on your site?

On highschoolprofile.com your updated profile is just a mouse click away. As a registered user, you can update your information at any time. As a matter of fact, we encourage it! To update your PDF simply upload the latest version onto our site. The changes are reflected immediately.

I am a high school guidance counselor. My supervisor created and uploaded our school’s profile. How can I access the site?

Not only is highschoolprofile.com a central source for high school profiles, it is also a professional community where those working in the college admissions field exchange ideas and information. High school guidance counselors are invited to join as college admissions professionals.

I don’t see the high school I’m looking for.

Highschoolprofile.com contains information that cannot easily be found anywhere else. Also you will notice that for the high schools that are registered, this information is more reliable and up to date than anywhere else. This is because the information is entered by the actual high schools and not mined from some database. Contact the school and ask them to post their profile. It’s completely free and they will gain access to a growing network of education professionals.

As a college admissions professional, I work with certain schools and high school counselors. How can I make their information readily accessible?

If you have searched our database and cannot find them, invite them to join. Registration is free for all high schools, high school guidance counselors and college admissions professionals. Once a high school or individual has joined you can add high schools to your “Favorites” area and invite individuals to your “My Colleagues” area. Both options are available when viewing the profile.

I just created a profile, why can’t I view it on your site?

We probably haven’t validated your profile yet. Highschoolprofile.com has two priorities, the first of which is to provide a trusted location where professionals can exchange information. To do this, we must confirm that you are an employee of a high school or of a college admissions department. The second is to keep it free for those professionals. This takes a little time, most validations are done between 1 PM and 9 PM Pacific Standard Time.

What’s the difference between “My Favorites” and “My colleagues”?

Only high schools can be placed on your “My Favorites” list. In addition to having certain high school profiles right at your fingertips, your favorites list can be used to compare certain statistics between individual schools.

High schools and college admissions professionals can be placed on your “My Colleagues” list. This area has a messaging feature useful for networking and exchanging information.

I want to compare two high schools. How can I do that?

Make them your favorites. You have the option of comparing schools on certain categories. We also recommend downloading the PDF of your favorites and saving them so you don’t have to constantly view it from our site. Just check back once in a while to look for updates or new schools.

We would like to make a better high school profile. Can you help us?

Highschoolprofile.com is staffed by working professionals and we would be happy to offer suggestions. However, we recommend also viewing other profiles and asking colleagues on the site or in the forums for advice.

Can you write a high school profile for me?

We do provide that service. However, we must charge you a fee as we must employ the services of guidance professionals with experience in this. Why don’t you try searching the forums or asking colleagues on the site for advice first. We also think that viewing the profiles of other schools is very helpful.
